Tully Heritage Experience
The model of Tully township was built by Ingham builders, Albert and Heather Smith as a joint project with the Cardwell Shire Council; in an endeavour to promote Tully's unique heritage and to rekindle memories of days gone by.

The Tully Sugar Mill was built by the Queensland Government at a cost of 765,000 pounds and commenced crushing in July 1926, processing a total of 146,006 tons of cane. The 2002 crop exceeded 2,000,000 tons.

The model represents the mill as it was in the late 1920's.

The village surrounding the sugar mill is imaginary, but the buildings and structures do or did exist within the Tully area.

The model is built to a scale of 50:1 and took approximately 8 months to complete. Many buildings have been built from photographs as the originals have long passed into history. The model is complemented by a "Cavalcade of Characters" depicting various activities of the period. If you go to the Tully Visitors Information Centre, and look carefully at the display you will see some very interesting things happening around the sugar mill.
There are 22 buildings in the display.
